The Adventures of Flat Shelby

My niece's class has been sharing & enjoying the book "Flat Stanley" by Jeff Brown. Classmates have created their own Flat Person and mailed it to someone who has the privilege of documenting the travels and experiences of the Flat Person.

I'm honored to have been chosen to help with this class project and hope I can provide exciting adventures for Flat Shelby. I'm returning a journal to the class and sharing her experiences here as though they are written by her.

Race are Fun, Tornado Warnings are not...

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

I raced a car in the Awana Pinewood Derby at church. This is me looking through the door window to make sure we are at the right room.

I'm waiting on my turn to race. You can see some of the cars racing behind me.

I'm getting a ride in the pocket of the best Grandpa in the whole world!

Grandma let me use her camera to take some pictures. I took one of CherBear as she was taking one of me. I should borrow the camera so I can take pictures, too, as we go on our adventures.

Here's my car and Awana ribbon. I like those cool flames on the side of my car!

I won 2nd place!!!! Just some minor adjustments and I'll win the next one!

We had another big adventure tonight. CherBear and I had to take Bo, Callie, and Kaz to the bathroom because we had some tornado warnings. They didn't like that. Bo left scratches on CherBear's shoulder because he was trying to get out of her arms since he wanted out! I've heard someone say before that something they were doing was like trying to herd cats. Now I know why - that was hard and it sure wasn't fun!

Remember when there is a tornado warning to go to the basement or to a room that doesn't have windows. You don't want to get hit with flying glass if a window blows in.
