The Adventures of Flat Shelby

My niece's class has been sharing & enjoying the book "Flat Stanley" by Jeff Brown. Classmates have created their own Flat Person and mailed it to someone who has the privilege of documenting the travels and experiences of the Flat Person.

I'm honored to have been chosen to help with this class project and hope I can provide exciting adventures for Flat Shelby. I'm returning a journal to the class and sharing her experiences here as though they are written by her.

Working on a Flat Stanley Project?

If you're working on a Flat Stanley Project and he (or she) needs a place to visit - just send me an email - cheri@fotosbycheri.com. I'm happy to take the flat person out on some adventures.

I'm usually at 2 or 3 concerts a month.... live close to the zoo.... there's cultural and historical places in Central Indiana..... along with fun and scenic places.....

I can even do a blog like this one.... scroll through it and see how much fun we had!

Swimming with Dolphins ..... almost!

We went to the zoo and gardens again today. We went in the underwater dome to watch the dolphins - that is so cool! But some people were being cruel and bouncing balls and the dolphins were trying to get them - but couldn't because it was through the glass.

This dolphin was coming to check me out! I wish I could have gotten in the water and played with him (or her).

There's a baby elephant at the zoo - you can see it with its Mommy on the hill behind me.

We had fun walking around at the zoo today. We also took some more pictures of butterflies. I think CherBear is going to put those on her website. When she does I will put a link here so you can see them.

Play Ball!

Today we went to a Little League ballgame. I'm glad it was a morning game because it was cooler. There was also a parade before the ballgame and all the players walked by handing out candy!

This evening we went to a concert, but we didn't take any pictures. Kent Bottenfield, a former All-Star St. Louis Cardinals pitcher, was singing at Landmark Baptist.

Walking in the Sky....

Well, not really in the sky.... but we did take the skywalk over Maryland Street from the convention center to the Westin. CherBear took pictures at Crossroads Bible College's 25th Anniversary Gala tonight so we were in the Sagamore Ballroom at the convention center. Chuck Lofton was the emcee but he left before I had the chance to get my picture taken with him.

Happy Easter!!!

Today CherBear and I went to Petsmart to stock up on food for Bo, Callie, & Kaz. After we left there we went to 11:45 service at church, then we went to Grandma & Grandpa's to eat lunch.

These are my new Easter shoes! They have butterflies on them - next time I go to White River Gardens to see the butterflies I'll have to see if I can find one like the ones on my shoes.

A Duet with Luke.... & a Day of Butterflies & Tulips

I went to Benjamin's Coffeehouse in Franklin tonight and Luke Austin Daugherty invited me to play a duet with him! You should go check out his music on his indieheaven site at http://www.indieheaven.com/view_artist.idh?artist_id=92894. He released his latest CD last month called "Songs & Poems in Brown & Blue".

We also went to White River Gardens to see the butterflies and flowers. We went to the zoo, too, but didn't get any pictures of me there because it started to rain.

Hide & Seek with Callie!

I've been playing hide & seek with the cats. In this picture I know where Callie is, but she doesn't know yet that I found her! I'm having lots of fun playing with them.

Sorry we didn't post on Tuesday. We had a long day! After work we went to the Central Indiana Christian Songwriters Association meeting at New Paradigm Church in Broad Ripple. CherBear's friend Bella was there, too. CherBear and Bella are not songwriters, but they know some of them so they went to provide support and to see what they could do to help. They do "Christian Songwriters in the Round" several times a month at coffeeshops and churches. If you have a question about those, leave a comment with your e-mail address. CherBear will take out your e-mail address before she publishes your comment - she approves them so we don't get spammed!

Thanks Michele for leaving the web address of the Ice Castle in Quebec! You can find it on the post with the postcard from Quebec.

CherBear says we have a special trip planned for Friday if the weather is OK. I can't wait to find out what it is!
